Train Windscreen Access

11th October 2024

We were tasked by one of our rail customers to design a safe and simple solution for accessing difficult to reach areas of a train windscreen when minor repairs were required in the depot.

With many modern trains now having an aerodynamic sloped nose, accessing and reaching certain parts of the train windscreen can be extremely awkward.

Accessing bolts as part of windscreen changes, applying sealant, undertaking general repairs and cleaning could not be done safely or efficiently from the fixed front of train staging due to the angle of the nose.

Our customer’s remit was also to have a lightweight and transportable solution, which could be used on multiple roads in the depot.

Pictured is the end result in operation.

This bespoke, lightweight, foldable and wide removable ladder attaches to the existing staging and allows the depot engineers to safely reach all areas of the train windscreen.

Another efficient and effective solution to a problematic working at height issue.
