We have supplied a series of bespoke modular temporary stair units for the new SKIMS flagship store on London’s iconic Regent Street.
The specially designed aluminium steps were required to provide safe access to a series of in-store podiums used for positioning and dressing mannequins as part of the store’s distinctive retail displays.
Designed as modular units, the lightweight steps can be quickly positioned where required, providing store personnel with a safe and practical means of accessing the elevated display areas before being removed and stored away when not in use.
The unusual application demonstrates how bespoke access equipment can play an important role well beyond traditional industrial environments, with the same principles of safety, stability and ease of use applying equally within high-end retail.
The 12,000 sq ft Regent Street store is the first standalone UK flagship for SKIMS, the fashion and shapewear brand co-founded by Kim Kardashian, and forms part of the brand’s continuing international expansion.
For Working at Height Ltd, the project represents another interesting bespoke access challenge, this time combining practical working-at-height requirements with the demanding aesthetics and operational needs of one of London’s highest-profile new retail destinations.
