Electric Overhead Line Access Platform forTramways 

A blast from the past has a push in the right direction in safety and productivity, The Crich Tramway Museum (The National Tramway Museum is an independent educational charity) in Matlock Derbyshire approached us to develop a new means of access to their overhead lines that power some of the most incredible trams preserved and lovingly looked after that operate in the Crich Tramway Village, dating back to the first electrified tram in the 1800's. Shown is the GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) multi-level platform that we installed on an old tram trolley that is towed and offers insulated access for the maintenance engineers, this to replace quite a remarkable piece of wooden access platform engineering that had to be removed due to new safety regulations. The tram trolley was stripped back to the 'bear bones' and refitted with new deck and the whole platform was then built and bolted to the trolley.

We are very pleased to report that customer is delighted with the result, we had to 'turn back the clock with a modern spin' people often say 'they don't make them like they used to', maybe not but what we can say is that this new platform will last many years and offer safety and compliance.
