Innovative BladeGlider Access Platform Should Revolutionise Aircraft Engine Maintenance

Aircraft maintenance teams can now benefit from a game-changing innovation, the BladeGlider is a purpose-built access platform engineered specifically to streamline inspection and servicing of aircraft engine fan blades.

The BladeGlider platform is designed to improve safety, efficiency, and ergonomics when working on modern jet engines, particularly those with large-diameter fans that can be difficult to access using traditional access equipment.

Crafted with lightweight yet durable materials, the BladeGlider features an adjustable frame that conforms to the reach and curvature of engine nacelles, enabling engineers to work comfortably and securely across the full arc of the fan assembly. Non-slip surfaces, integrated tool trays, and modular height settings make the platform a versatile and indispensable tool in both hangar and ramp environments.

Accessing fan blades has always posed logistical challenges, especially as engine diametres continue to increase, the BladeGlider closes that gap by providing targeted, stable access that significantly reduces fatigue, minimises the risk of damage, and speeds up turnaround times.

The BladeGlider has already been trialled and bought by MRO providers and has received praise for reducing setup times and improving technician posture during blade inspections and replacements. Certification for airside use is currently underway.
